Shawn and Pamela purchased this home in Pebble Creek that had been stuck in the 90s… everywhere. There was tons of red oak on the floors and walls, wallpaper, and dark green carpet. Before moving in, they had us renovate their kitchen (including creating a new butler’s pantry and laundry space), master suite, entryway, office, lounge, and living room. They told us one of the reasons they chose us for this project was because we have in-house custom cabinetry. After undertaking 4 other renovations in the past (on their previous home), they know how important cabinets are for a renovation like this.
For their overall aesthetic, they wanted warmth, with tan / beige / cream paint colors and maintaining the existing hardwood floors. We helped them find BM Ladyfinger and BM Bridgewater Tan for their kitchen & living room: orange beiges that paired perfectly with their red oak floors. They also have a lot of art deco furniture, as well as unique artwork, that helped us select BM Van Courtland Blue to accent their master suite, and BM Baby Seal Black for their dining room and lounge.
The kitchen wish list included a dedicated coffee area, integrated lighting, two pull-out trash cans, and of course, tons of customized storage & workspace. Aside from the many cabinets tailored to fit their specific needs, we installed quartz countertops, solid surface backsplash, and decorative elements like the oak floating shelves and glass uppers. We eliminated the existing pantry and coat closet, opening them up to the laundry room, to create one large utility room / pantry. We removed columns in their entry, painted a dark and moody lounge, and gave Pamela’s office a fresh coat of paint over the red oak wall paneling and cabinetry.
But perhaps the biggest transformation in this home was the master bathroom. This bathroom was absolutely gigantic at 360 square feet… and that doesn’t include the closets! The existing layout was very odd: with the tub jutting out into the center of the room and lots of dead space. Making use of all this open space took some problem solving. We decided to construct a built-in dresser to act as an island in this large open space. Since both closets connect to the bathroom, it works as a bathroom / dressing room. We relocated the tub to the back corner and the shower location remained. Removing all the wallpaper, new vanity cabinets, countertops, tile, and fixtures brought this bathroom out of the 90s! Blue accents were inspired by Pamela’s beautiful vanity chair which ties the whole space together.
Our design build approach AND in-house custom cabinetry is what drew Shawn and Pamela to hiring us for their project, and those aspects of our company made a huge difference when it came to redesigning these spaces. We’re thankful they trusted us with such a large and customized project, and we’re so happy they love their new home!
