One of my favorite aspects of this project is how well this kitchen feels like it was always part of this home, but still modern!
Natalie and Dave have a colonial style 1990s home. It has a lot of red oak woodwork, traditional style moldings, and shiny brass fixtures. We coordinated the island stain to match their existing red oak hardwood floors in the adjacent living spaces, and added keystone details above the vent hood and sink bridge cabinet that match a keystone above their fireplace. The fluted trim about their window is also a nod to colonial trim they have elsewhere in the home. Kohler’s Brushed Moderne Brass finish is the perfect modernized counterpart to the shiny brass of the 90s. It coordinates, but doesn’t look outdated or out of place.
It was also very important that the house not feel too 90s. Flat panel cabinet doors with clean edges, mitered square edge quartz countertops (with a solid backsplash), and a beautiful fireclay sink modernize the space. The checker board floor is, in my opinion, the star of the show! It’s traditional, classic, and beautiful, just like the rest of their home! It feels high end, but also still homey and welcoming.
Working with Natalie and Dave was such a pleasure. They had a wonderful vision for modernizing their kitchen, but didn’t want to fight their existing home’s style, and I think we nailed it.
The work was done in a professional, efficient, and timely manner.
“We couldn’t be more thrilled with how our kitchen remodel turned out. Buck and Renee and everyone on their team were delightful to work with. The work was done in a professional, efficient, and timely manner and the communication we received during the process was outstanding. We highly recommend them and plan on using them for a future bathroom remodel.” -Natalie W.
