Anna’s Bathroom Remodel

Burton Creek

Our client, Anna, inherited this midcentury home in Bryan, and wanted to maintain that midcentury character with her bathroom design. However, the layout was the most important aspect of this project. We removed the bathtub, enlarged the shower, and most importantly, walled off the bathroom from the bedroom. Now Anna can move into a house with a bathroom door she can close!

We also relocated the closet entrance to create a hall closet, and extended that wall to perfectly fit an old dresser that Anna restored. We replaced the exterior door slider, and re-installed the bifold closet doors (after Anna removed the mirrors and refinished them to match her dresser). A West Elm vanity (with a new Sonata quartz countertop) helped keep the budget in check and adds to the warmth and character of the space.

We love how this bathroom design marries old with new. The new terrazzo-look floor tile (inspired by the real terrazzo in this home’s entryway), skinny shower wall tile, penny floor tile, quartz countertops, and chrome fixtures all bring a modern aesthetic with a midcentury twist. The restored dresser, mirror, & closet doors bring in character that only older pieces can provide. This bathroom is now much more functional for Anna, while still honoring the original design of her home!

“Working with Buck the Builder and team for my bathroom remodel was such an easy and amazing experience. They turned a nightmare into a dream. The team was able to design, plan, and create an absolutely incredible primary bathroom, replacing what was one of the most poorly designed rooms I have ever seen in any home. Communication was exceptional and the job was delivered on time. They were always mindful and respectful of my budget, but still gave me all the stunning details needed to turn a room without walls into a beautiful primary ensuite. I could not be happier and will definitely choose Buck the Builder again for my next project.”
