Jen & Tolby have three young kids and two busy jobs, and their kitchen was making their busy mornings and evenings even more hectic. We loved getting to work within their budget to update the things that gave them the most value for each dollar they spent. For this kitchen, that meant addressing storage issues in 3 key areas: trash, fridge surround, and sink. Their kitchen was continuously cluttered with lunch boxes and dirty dishes (their sink was tiny and couldn’t hold much). We installed a much deeper, wider, workstation sink, to keep dirty dishes off the counter. We built a new wider cabinet to house a trash-can pull-out, so their trash wouldn’t be out in the open for kids & dogs to get into. And we added a full custom fridge surround to house all the specialty kid items and make use of the wasted space. Last but not least, a full aesthetic upgrade made this kitchen feel brand new: even while maintaining most of the cabinetry. New cabinet doors and a full cabinet repaint in BM’s Revere Pewter: a green-gray, were at the top of the list. We brought out the green undertones by pairing the cabinets with a true white quartz counter, removing the useless bartop, and a deep green backsplash. Swapping out the hardware for champagne bronze easily made this builder-grade, outdated kitchen feel truly custom-made for this young family!
